DOCUMENTING GREGORIAN CHANT IN OKLAHOMA
Part documentary, part music video and a fully one-of-a-kind experience!
The last week of April brought MortonMedia one of the most interesting projects it has seen to date. Part documentary, part music video and a fully one-of-a-kind experience… We got to spend two days at a monastery working, eating, and communing with real life MONKS!
Nestled into the hills of eastern Oklahoma lies a monastery: Our Lady of Clear Creek Abbey. Here nearly 60 monks live solitary lives of unceasing contemplative prayer, work, and daily worship by way of Gregorian Chant. This form of singing is an everyday part of life for the men that have devoted themselves to this spiritual practice.
Multiple times per day, these men lead liturgical worship services commonly referred to as, “offices”. Whether there are pious visitors in the pews or not, this show of devotion goes on. Oftentimes people come from near and far just to experience these ceremonies. Our Lady of Clear Creek Abbey decided to record an album of this sacred liturgical worship with Sophia Music Group, and we are excited to have received the opportunity to help capture this process over the course of two days. Here are a few shots from the weekend!
Sophia Music Group is not a client of MortonMedia, we were hired to offer additional camera services to maximize their out-of-state crew and optimize the two days they had to capture the recording process. Contact us if you have a music video or documentary film project!
We can take on projects from any stage in the creative process and to any scope. MortonMedia can develop your music video or documentary film from the ground up or hop on to an existing crew and simply provide pre-production, camera, and post-production support. At MortonMedia, we are team players who love good storytelling and we loved helping tell this story!
